These last 48 hours have been nothing short of dramatic. This past Monday, we celebrated the half-decade milestone of the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles with a competition to decide the top exclusive title of this hardware cycle. We presented eight PlayStation 5 titles and eight Xbox Series X exclusives to face off against each other, all heading towards a final showdown where the leading contender from each console would go head-to-head. There have been some nail-biting finishes in the initial matchups, especially yesterday’s razor-thin votes. At this point, it's moment to decide the leading PlayStation and Xbox titles ahead of the championship on Thursday.

The PS5 Side

For PlayStation 5, we have the Kratos-killer, Astro Bot. Perhaps it's expected given that it won top honors at the previous year's gaming accolades, but its win against God of War Ragnarök feels like a true upset. But to get to the finals, it'll have to go through the MVP of the PS5 generation: the acclaimed developer. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had a smooth path to the semi-finals, defeating Ghost of Yōtei and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (another title from the same studio!) to secure a spot in the semi-finals. Will Spider-Man defeat a home-grown Sony mascot, or is he fated to become a miniature appearance in the upcoming Astro Bot title?

Xbox Series X Contenders

The Xbox Series X side has been more exciting. Emerging victorious from a more eclectic field of contenders is Forza Horizon 5. It's a big victory for the open-world driving game already, demonstrating that a more specialized genre game earns to be on the equal footing as classic platformers and story-driven epics. Its last roadblock on the way to the finals is a big one, though. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has shown itself as a crowd favorite, beating acclaimed titles like Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush. Can it beat a larger-scale title from an well-known franchise that's closely tied to the Xbox brand? Should anyone manage this feat, it's probably Indy.
