From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team knows exactly where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, striking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and advises that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the team access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Strategists groups.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which characters will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
